Call for Papers
On behalf of the AGILE council, we would like to invite you to participate at the 14th AGILE International Conference on Geographic Information Science, scheduled to take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The program will offer parallel paper presentation sessions, keynote sessions, poster sessions and pre‐conference workshops to share your ideas, explore on‐going research, future developments, including state‐of‐the‐art applications, and to network with the professionals from academia, industry, and government who are interested in promoting GI teaching and research activities among GI laboratories at the European level.
Potential contributors are invited to submit:
ØFull paper submission (maximum 6000‐word manuscript) of original and unpublished fundamental scientific research. High‐quality scientific submissions will be accepted for presentation at the conference and published in the Springer Lecture Notes on Geoinformation and Cartography. We especially encourage PhD students to submit full papers. Papers must be written in English according to the Springer formatting guidelines.
Note: AGILE 2011 is running a double-blind review process . In preparing your manuscript, do not inclu de any information which could reveal your i de n tity, or that of your co‐authors . The title section of your manuscript should not contain any author names, email addresses, or affiliation status . In the body of your submission, you should eliminate all direct references to your own previous work . That is, avoid phrases such as "this contribution generalizes our results for XYZ" . Also, please do not disproportionately cite your own previous work . In other words, make your submission as anonymous as possible . We need your cooperation in our effort to maintain a fair, double-blind reviewing process.
ØShort paper submission (2000 to 3000‐word manuscript) of original and unpublished research work. High‐quality scientific and strategic (industrial and governmental) submissions will be accepted for presentation at the conference and published in the AGILE proceedings . Papers must be written in English according to the submission template and formatting gui de lines.
ØPoster submission (500 to 1000‐word manuscript) of original scientific and strategic research work. High‐quality submissions will be accepted for poster presentations at the conference and provide the exceptional opportunity to stimulate scientific discussions and exchange novel ideas. Papers must be written in English according to the submission template and formatting guidelines.
Authors’ instructions will be made available after July 1st at www.uu.nl/geo/agile2011. All submissions must be sent electronically via the on‐line conference manager.

EUGISES 2010 - Final Call for Papers
================= EUGISES 2010 ===================================== ============= Final Call for Papers ================================
Seventh European GIS Seminar 9 - 12 September 2010, Serres, Greece
This will be the seventh European GIS in Education Seminar - EUGISES. After very successful meetings in the Netherlands (1998), Hungary (2000), Spain (2002), Austria (2004), Poland (2006) and the U.K. (2008), it will come to Greece, the town of Serres in 2010. The basic purpose is to offer an occasion for all of those interested in the teaching and learning of GIS in Europe (and beyond) to share ideas, best practice, and innovation. The social aspect will be important as this will be a meeting of old and new friends with a shared interest and passion. The plenary sessions will have various forms: paper presentations, discussion, working groups, (computer) demonstrations, poster presentations etc. Presentations will be short, so we do not expect participants to present their full paper at the seminar but to select those issues that could stimulate discussion and the exchange of ideas. This time we organize the call for papers a little bit different. Two vision papers are written to organize at least two sessions that will deal with questions that are put forward in these two papers (available at the conference web site). The first paper focus on how to deal with GI education in a different world as seen 10 years ago (related to paper of Marinus de Bakker and Fred Toppen). The second is about how to organize GI education, if we accept that most of us do not have the resources to develop new topics by ourselves (related to paper of Josef Strobl). We hope that some of you would like to take one of these papers as starting point. In that case, please indicate which specific topic related to the vision papers you will address in your paper. This will help us to organize an interesting seminar. The vision papers are available on the conference website. If you have any questions related to this, please contact the organizers. But feel free to address other topics, because we will also have more open ("free") sessions that could address issues such as: best educational practices, harmonisation of (GI) curricula in Europe, geo services, GI education for professionals, GI education for end users, incorporating new technology in GI-teaching, interoperability of teaching materials, quality assurance mechanisms for GI-education, and business models in education. The complete Call for Papers is available at the conference web site.
